Pick n Pay Collectaboks: the full Springbok card list and the gold Rassie

Pick n Pay's Springbok Collectaboks were the rugby cards of late 2025: 30 Springbok cards plus one rare golden Rassie Erasmus, collected in a physical album or a digital one. The promotion is over, but a lot of albums still have empty spaces. Here is how the set worked, why the last few cards were so hard to get, and how to finish it now.

How the Collectaboks promotion worked

According to the promotion's terms and conditions, it ran from 20 October to 30 November 2025. You got one pack of Collectaboks for every R500 spent in a single transaction at Pick n Pay supermarkets and hypermarkets, Pick n Pay Clothing, Pick n Pay asap!, Pick n Pay online and Mr D, up to 10 packs per transaction. Each pack held three cards.

Cards could go in the physical Collectaboks rugby album or be added to a digital album in the Smart Shopper app, which entered collectors into a share of R10 million in Smart Shopper points. The terms describe the gold Rassie Erasmus card as available in limited numbers, and finding one came with an entry into a draw for a Springbok experience. Pick n Pay also encouraged swapping duplicates, including in-store swap sessions.

The set: 30 players and the golden Rassie

The standard set is 30 cards, covering Springbok players and coach Rassie Erasmus - Lukhanyo Am, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Damian de Allende, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Andre Esterhuizen, Eben Etzebeth, Manie Libbok, Franco Mostert, Jasper Wiese and Grant Williams among them. The 31st card is the gold Rassie Erasmus, which is separate from the standard green Rassie card, so a complete album needs both.

Why the last few cards cost so much shopping

If the 30 standard cards were all equally likely, you would expect to open about 120 cards to get all 30. At three cards a pack and one pack per R500, that is 40 packs - roughly R20,000 of shopping - and that ignores the gold Rassie entirely.

Most of that effort goes on the end of the set. The first 24 different cards (80% of the album) take about 46 cards on average. The last 6 take around 74 more, because by then almost every card you open is one you already have. That is how a family ends up with a pile of doubles and the same three gaps week after week.

Finishing the album after the promotion

List your gaps. Go through the album and note exactly which players you are missing. Our checklist lets you tick off what you have.
Swap with other families. Rugby-mad households all over the country collected this set. School and club friends are the obvious place to start.

About the gold Rassie

Because the gold Rassie was produced in limited numbers, most albums were never going to get one. Do not confuse it with the standard Rassie Erasmus card, which is part of the normal 30. If you have the gold one, keep it out of the album in a card sleeve - it is the card in the set worth protecting from bent corners and scratches.

Keeping the cards in good condition

Cards that live in a school bag get creased quickly. Keep the album flat, slot cards in rather than forcing them, and store doubles in a small box rather than loose with elastic bands, which dent the edges. Clean, flat cards are the ones other collectors want.
