Terms of use

These terms apply when you use swappies.co.za, buy collectables from us or sell collectables to us. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or any other South African law.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself - you are responsible for what is done with your account. We may close an account that is used to abuse the site, other customers or our staff.

Buying from us

  • All prices are in South African rand and include everything except delivery, which is shown at checkout before you pay.
  • Items are held for you from the moment you place your order. If an order is cancelled, they go back on sale.
  • You can pay by card or instant EFT through PayFast, or by manual EFT. Your order is processed once payment has been confirmed.
  • We deliver to PUDO lockers and Paxi points across South Africa; the courier's tracking shows where your parcel is. You can also collect for free in Benoni by appointment, arranged on WhatsApp.
  • Every single is a real item from our stock and is described by its number and name on our checklist. If something arrives that is not what you ordered, contact us and we will put it right.
  • Once your parcel has been handed to the courier it travels at your risk. Swappies is not liable for a parcel the courier loses, delays or damages, and the cost of sending an undelivered or uncollected parcel again is yours. If you neither pay for it to be sent again nor arrange to collect it within 7 days, the items go back into our stock and neither the purchase price nor the delivery fee is refunded.
  • Delivery times, cancelling an order, returns and refunds are set out in our delivery, cancellation and refund policy.

Selling to us

  • We take sell offers worth at least the minimum shown when you list your items. You pay the postage to send your parcel to us, so a small offer would cost you more than we pay.
  • A quote is valid for 14 days. Accepting it is an agreement to sell us the items at that price in the condition you gave them.
  • Your quote is calculated from the condition you gave each item - Mint pays full price, Near Mint 60%, Good 40% and Played 10%. It is an offer for collectables in that condition, not a fixed price for whatever arrives, so grade honestly. If you are unsure, grade down; an accurate list is paid faster than a generous one.
  • We check every parcel against your list when it arrives. If items are missing, are not the numbers listed, or are in worse condition than you graded them - creased, torn, written on, stuck down, water damaged or otherwise not resaleable - we will send you a revised offer with the reason.
  • A revised offer is yours to accept or refuse. Nothing is paid until you answer, and we will not pay you less than you accepted without asking you first. If you accept, we pay the revised amount. If you refuse, we send your collectables back and you cover the return postage.
  • Deliberately misgrading items wastes both our time. We may decline to buy from an account that does it repeatedly.
  • You are responsible for sending your parcel to the correct destination. Check the recipient details and the PAXI store or PUDO locker shown above before you pay for your waybill - a parcel sent to the wrong place is not something we can recover.
  • Swappies is not liable for parcels that are misaddressed, sent to a different store or locker, lost, delayed or damaged in transit. Until your parcel reaches us and we have checked it, it remains your risk.
  • The courier's own tracking system is the source of truth for whether a parcel was sent, where it went and when it arrived. Where our records and the courier's tracking disagree, the courier's tracking is what counts.
  • Keep your tracking number and your proof of postage until you have been paid. We cannot trace a parcel without them.
  • If you drop your collectables off in Benoni instead of posting them, there is no courier and no tracking number: they become our responsibility when we take them from you in person, at a time and place agreed on WhatsApp. We check them against your list there or shortly afterwards, and the same revised-offer rules apply.
  • Payouts to your Swappies wallet are free. EFT payouts to a bank account may carry a small bank charge, which is shown before you choose.

Product names, logos and artwork belong to their publishers and are shown only to identify the items we buy and sell. Swappies is not affiliated with or endorsed by Panini, Topps, FIFA, Formula 1, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Woolworths or any other brand named on the site.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to an order or a sale is the one in force when you placed it or accepted the quote.
